These conditions can arise from combat experiences, exposure to violence, prolonged separation from family, and the challenges of transitioning back to civilian life.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<a href=\"https:\/\/mentalhealth.va.gov\/\">The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the largest provider of mental health services for veterans in the<\/a> country and provides mental health services and care to many veterans \u2014 including individual and group therapy, medication management, PTSD treatment programs, substance abuse counseling, and suicide prevention services. Additional resources are also available through an employer\u2019s medical plan. But access remains a challenge for some due to long wait times, location, and fear of the stigma associated with seeking treatment for mental health.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s essential to continue the ongoing efforts to improve mental health care and support services for veterans, as well as to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues within the veteran community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Other Available Resources<\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;28923&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]The Veterans Crisis Line is a free, confidential resource available 24\/7 to veterans, service members, and their families. It provides immediate support and crisis intervention via phone, text, or online chat. Contact the Veterans Crisis Line at 800-273-8255 and press 1, text 838255, or chat online at <a href=\"http:\/\/veteranscrisisline.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">veteranscrisisline.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous nonprofit organizations and community-based groups provide support and resources tailored to veterans&#8217; mental health needs, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woundedwarriorproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Wounded Warrior Project<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/giveanhour.org\/va-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Give an Hour<\/a>, which offers free mental health services provided by volunteer professionals.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;28924&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Peer support programs connect veterans with fellow veterans who have experienced similar challenges and can offer understanding, empathy, and practical advice.
